6th Dec, 06:15 (and we all know what the ‘0’ stands for…) and we’re off! We arrived at Heathrow after being dropped off by a very sleepy Paul (thanks again Paul), and checked in for our flights. Even though we booked the flights back in June, we had to go from London to Paris to Singapore to Perth so we knew it was always going to be a long day and as it turned out we were right!

The first flight was really nice. For some reason we appeared to have been bumped up a class, and found ourselves towards the front of the plane, complete with leather seats and more than the usual 2 inches of legroom!
We arrived at Charles DeGaulle Airport in Paris, a full 15 minutes ahead of schedule feeling relaxed and rather smug. Our next mission was to find out where our connecting flight went from! After wandering around in circles for ages, and trying a bit of sign language with a Russian, we think he was asking us if we knew where his flight went from, but could well

have been trying to order a burger and large fries. We finally realised that there only seemed to be AirFrance flights, so we set off in search of another terminal. After a lot of pointing at tickets etc we are packed onto a bus which took us on a 45 minute winding tour of the airport – passing the tower no less than 4 times – we eventually reached the Qantas terminal.

After a couple of hours at CDG we were more than ready to board the plane for Singapore. While wandering down the isle to take our seats Steve suddenly broke out in a grin – he had just noticed that I was going to be sitting next to a small child for the next 15 hours.
The flight was very comfortable but fairly uneventful and after a brief stop in Singapore, we arrived in Perth - the only small problem was our luggage had not been quite so clever and we discovered that our suitcase had gone

missing in Paris!!! We filled out the form to register our case as officially missing and then grabbed a taxi to our hotel. The taxi driver was great, he told us all the local information while we took in the views of a very sunny Perth.
We checked in at the hotel and got up to our room, which turned out to not only be on the 13th floor but a smoking room as well, but a quick visit to reception sorted out both problems. After a brief wander to the local McDonalds it was back to the hotel to try and work out what we intend to do tomorrow and get some well-earned sleep. Night Night .
